GPs to prescribe very low calorie diets in hope of reversing diabetes

In the UK Thousands of people are to be offered a very low calorie diet (VLCD) by their GPs in the hope of reversing their type 2 diabetes, NHS England has announced.

The 800-calories-a-day regimen, made up of soups and shakes, has been shown to help people lose excess weight that has caused fat to build up around their internal organs including the pancreas, leading to type 2 diabetes.

Recently South Africa was ranked the unhealthiest country on earth.
The latest statistics from the World Health Organisation show that South Africans have a 26% probability of dying from cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, or chronic respiratory disease between ages 30 and 70.

Can Slender You Meal Replacements help Reduce the Risk of Type 2 Diabetes?

While we cannot guarantee that following Slender You's meal replacement diet will reverse type 2 diabetes, what we can do is show you that for some individuals following a VLCD it did. So, now for the results.

In the first four weeks, all of the volunteers lost between 5-12kg , going on to lose even more weight in the weeks that followed. All of the volunteers seriously reduced their liver fat and glucose levels, putting some of them back into a normal, healthy range (even in just 4 weeks!). Two of the volunteers have put their type 2 diabetes into remission following their substantial weight loss!
